“I believe President Trump still has a path to victory,” Cruz told Fox News on Sunday. He backed Trump’s claims of voting fraud.
“And that path is to count every single legal vote that was cast, but also not to [count] any votes that were fraudulently passed or illegally cast, and we have a legal process to determine what’s legal and what isn’t,” he added.
"The media does not get to select our President. The American people get to elect our President," he said.
On Saturday, the US television networks delivered the news that Biden had secured the Electoral College votes needed to win the presidential election.
Republicans, like Senator Mitt Romney of Utah and former President George W. Bush, have accepted the unofficial results of the presidential election which showed Biden becoming the president-elect.
Bush said the "outcome is clear" and added that he had called "President-elect" Biden and Harris to extend his congratulations.
Biden begins transition despite Trump refuses to concede
Meanwhile, Biden has taken the first steps of a transition plan into the White House despite Trump refusing to concede.
Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris launched a transition website that lists their four priorities of COVID-19, economic recovery, racial equity and climate change.
However, Trump on Sunday once again raised claims of electoral fraud, calling the November 3 presidential vote a "stolen election."
Trump claimed that the Democrats "stole what they had to steal” from the presidential election.
"We believe these people are thieves. The big city machines are corrupt. This was a stolen election. Best pollster in Britain wrote this morning that this clearly was a stolen election, that it’s impossible to imagine that Biden outran Obama in some of these states," he tweeted.
"Since when does the Lamestream Media call who our next president will be?" Trump complained in another tweet on Sunday.
According to Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who said he had "a lot of evidence" of fraud, Trump plans to file a string of lawsuits in the coming week.
Trump also claimed without providing evidence that he had “over a hundred million mail-in ballot” in cities like Philadelphia and Detroit.
Trump lost the US presidential race to Biden by a huge margin of electoral votes after the former vice president won a total of 290 electoral votes compared to his Republican rival’s 214.
Biden declared himself the winner in the presidential election after several news networks called him victorious in Pennsylvania and Nevada, where ballot counting still continues.
Trump censured the announcement and claimed that Biden "falsely poses as the winner" with the help of "his media allies."
He also claimed in a tweet that he had won the 2020 election "by a lot.”
Trump promised to file numerous lawsuits starting on November 9 to dispute the results of the election, citing alleged violations.
