News - Middle East: Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement have strongly condemned a deadly bombing at a busy market in the Iraqi capital, with Tehran offering help to the neighboring country in its fight against terrorism.

A bomber killed at least 35 people and wounded over 60 others in the crowded market in the Sadr City neighborhood of Baghdad on Monday, on the eve of the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday.

“This cowardly act is an attempt to reinvigorate the policy of murder, assassination and crimes pursued by Takfiri and terrorist organizations along with their international and regional supporters. It will, however, inflict nothing but harm on Iraqi people,” Hezbollah said in a statement.

The statement said the unity of the Iraqi nation and their relentless efforts to hunt down and eliminate remnants of Takfiri terrorist groups will be a decisive response to such crimes and conspiracies.

Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement also expressed solidarity with Iraqi people in the wake of the terror attack, and wished divine forgiveness for the deceased and speedy recovery for those injured.

Iran Embassy in Baghdad decries terror attack

Separately, the Iranian Embassy in Iraq denounced the bombing at a crowded market in the Sadr City neighborhood of Baghdad.

In a statement, the diplomatic mission extended its sincere condolences to the Iraqi nation and government over the attack, stressing the importance of close cooperation among regional countries in the fight against terrorism.
