News - Yemen: The health sector in Sana'a confirmed that continued detention of fuel ships caused power outages, suspension of services in 100 medical facilities, and a decline in the level of health care provision for patients.

In a vigil on Monday, the health sector employees denounced the continued piracy and the detention of fuel ships, which increased the suffering of patients.

A statement issued by a vigil confirmed that disruption of fuel will lead to the cessation of medical services and health care in health facilities.

It considered these practices contrary to international and humanitarian charters, norms and laws, because of their negative repercussions on various sectors.

The statement pointed out that the intensive care services, newborns, and operations are among the most affected departments due to the power outage, due to the lack of fuel, in addition to the impact of this on the level of preservation and storage of medicines, as well as the preservation of vaccines.

It stressed that most of the medical facilities in Capital Municipality have declined in the level of service provision, routine health activities, immunization campaigns, and others.

The statement stated that continuation of providing health care services and activities is contingent on the provision of fuel, and the cessation of these materials means a new humanitarian catastrophe.

The participants in the vigil, which was attended by directors of health offices, hospitals, health cadres, employees and cadres of the oil company, called on the international community and international humanitarian organizations to put pressure of US-Saudi aggression to release the fuel ships.

They held United Nations fully responsible for the humanitarian disaster that befell the health sector, as a result of the interruption of fuel from service facilities that provide services to citizens.

The statement of the YPC confirmed that the US-Saudi aggression coalition are still holding four oil ships, including two ships carrying gas.

The statement indicated that seized ships include two ships with a total tonnage of "59,707" tons of gasoline and diesel.

The statement held the international community fully responsible for the aggression's persistence in its crimes in Yemen, calling on the free people of the world to stand by the Yemeni people and expose the aggression's crimes and its arbitrary practices in detaining fuel, food and medicine ships.
