News-Middle East-Saudi Arabia: A human rights organization has sounded the alarm on the fate of prominent Saudi human rights defender Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman al-Tuwaijri, whose whereabouts remain unknown since his detention by regime forces over four months ago.

Sanad human rights organization, which defends political and civil rights in Saudi Arabia and monitors human rights violations and exposes them to public opinion as well as international organizations, announced that Tuwaijri was arbitrarily arrested in April, and his whereabouts remain unknown while he is still incarcerated.

Sanad called on Saudi government authorities to reveal the fate of the rights activist who has been forcibly disappeared, and to release him unconditionally.

Tuwaijri is reportedly a professor of management and planning at Majmaah University in Saudi Arabia’s central province of Riyadh, and has carried out extensive scientific and academic research in the fields of planning, management and leadership skills.

He held high positions in the Saudi Ministry of Education and once headed the ministry's education department. He started his academic career at university in 2015.

Tuwaijri is said to be interested in social and charity activities. He is the chief executive of Saei Foundation for the Development of Endowments, and is also the chairman of board of directors at the Ayami Foundation for the Specific Care of Widows and Divorced Women.
