News - Yemen: Yemeni Air Defenses of the Army and Popular Committees shot down Monday a  hostile spy drone run by the US-Saudi aggression while flying in the skies over Sa’adah governorate.

Armed Forces Spokesman Yahya Sare’e stated that the air defenses shot down a Chinese-made WING LOONG 2 drone with an undisclosed surface-to-air missile as it was on a reconnaissance mission over Kataf district.

Last month, the Yemeni Air Defense shot down an US spy plane "Scan Eagle" during its hostile operation in the skies over of the Marib Governorate.

The unmanned aerial vehicle can fire air-to-ground missiles from an altitude of 5,000 meters, enabling it to stay outside of the effective range of most anti-aircraft systems.

The development came only a day after the military media released video footage of the wreckage of a Chinese-made Chengdu Wing Loong II drone overrated by the Saudi military.

Yemeni air defense shot down the spy drone over Saudi Arabia’s southwestern border region of Najran, which lies close to the border with Yemen with a surface-to-air missile on May 20.
