Yemeni Foreign Ministry: Britain's Economic War Against Yemen, A Mistake

News – Yemen: The Yemeni Deputy Foreign Minister in Sana’a, Hussein Al-Ezzi, sent an important message to the British government and its people, following its ongoing economic interference in Yemen.

Al-Ezzi's message came as a response to UK's decision to hand back Yemeni frozen assets to Pro-Saudi Government.

Al-Ezzi tweeted that "Britain realizes more than others that it is Yemeni money and that the “Hadi government” represents only thieves, corrupt, al-Qaeda, ISIS and the Brotherhood’s organization. Despite all that, Britain insists on sending Yemeni money to these as a kind of support for corruption and terrorism in our country “.

Sana’a expressed its objection to what the British government had done through the “Bank of England,” which granted the Central Bank branch in Aden the authority to dispose of Yemen’s frozen funds, since 2016.

The Central Bank of Yemen in Sana’a had addressed the “Bank of England” objecting to granting the Central Bank branch in Aden the authority to dispose of our funds frozen with it since 2016. To great harm to the rights of the people.

The bank clarified that the Bank of England’s implementation of any agreements with persons of non-legal status is a violation of the Yemeni constitution and law and international and banking laws and standards, stressing that the Central Bank branch in Aden represents one of the tools of the economic war in the hands of the coalition countries to implement its plans towards Yemen.

It pointed out that the balances deposited with the “Bank of England” are part of the reserve balances of banks operating in Yemen, considering the “Bank of England” to take this step as a participation in the corruption and crimes of the Central Bank branch in Aden, its government and the coalition countries on Yemen.

The bank called on the Bank of England to abide by international and banking laws and standards related to transparency, impartiality, accountability and the rule of law, stressing its adherence to the content of the House of Representatives message to the Bank of England in keeping the Yemeni people suing any financial institution that allows any party to use the assets of the Republic of Yemen.
