Acting Minister of Human Rights: ICRC Must Pay Heed to Prisoners Affairs in US-Saudi Prisons

News - Yemen: The Acting Minister of Human Rights, Ali Hussein Al-Dailami, discussed, Tuesday, with the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation in Yemen, Katrina Ritz, the violations of the US-Saudi aggression against prisoners and detainees, and the non-compliance with international covenants and laws.

He stressed the need for the ICRC to play its role in following up the affairs of prisoners in the detention and prisons of Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the occupied governorates of Marib, Aden and Hadhramaut, noting that a number of prisoners have been tortured to death.

Al-Dailami mentioned the prisoner Matari Yahya Al-Manabi, who is in Khamis Mushait prison in Saudi Arabia. He was sentenced to death by the Saudi authorities, which is considered a violation to the provisions and rules of international humanitarian law, especially the Third Geneva Convention on the Protection of Prisoners.

The Acting Minister briefed the head of the delegation of the Red Cross Committee, about the suffering of the traveling citizens and their detention by US-Saudi mercenaries. He confirmed that the mercenaries commit crimes and acts of torture, killing some of them.

For her part, the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation indicated the Committee's interest in protecting prisoners and detainees in all prisons.

Katrina also stressed the keenness to strengthen partnership with the Ministry of Human Rights in projects and programs for the protection of human rights.
