News - Yemen:   The Yemeni Air Defenses of the Army and Popular Committees have shot down a Chinese-made combat drone run by the Emirati Forces, while it was carrying out hostile actions over Shabwa Governorate.

“Our Air Defenses shot down an armed Chinese-made spy drone, Wing Loong-2, operated by the UAE Air Force, while it was carrying out hostile actions over Ain District in Shabwa Governorate,” Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e said in a brief statement on Tuesday.

Sare’e explained that the downing of the Emirati drone was with a domestically-designed surface-to-air missile.

Last Wednesday, the Air Defenses shot down a Chinese-made Wing Long-2 spy drone run by the UAE forces while it was carrying out hostile actions over Asilan District, Shabwa Governorate.

Brigadier General Saree had announced that the Air Defense Units carried out during 2021 military operations, including 1,025 repelling and forcing to leave operations and 22 shooting down operations. The downed drones included six Chinese-made CH-4 drones operated by the Saudi Air Force, 12 Saudi ScanEagle drones, two Emirati Wing Loong-2 drones and American MQ-9.

Enjoying complete arms, logistical, and political support on the part of the US, Saudi Arabia and a number of its allies started a war against Yemen in March 2015 to restore power to Yemen's former Washington and Riyadh-aligned officials.

The war has stopped way short of the goal, while killing tens of thousands of Yemenis in the process and pushing the entire Yemen close to the brink of outright famine.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have vowed, though, not to lay down their arms until Yemen's complete liberation from the US-Saudi aggression.

Saudi Arabia and the UAE are keen to bring in combat drones from multiple countries to gain qualitative air superiority, most notably US, China and Turkey.
 
With the ability of the Yemeni Air Defenses to shoot down these drones despite their development, it limits the air superiority of the coalition of aggression, thus weakening the card it is betting on in the battlefield.
 
In the outcome of the air defense's achievements, the coalition of aggression lost dozens of its various aircraft, warplanes and drones.
