News - Yemen: Yemeni Air Force carried out an offensive operation on Thursday targeting important military site in Abha international Airport.

The Armed Forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Sare'e stated  in a statement posted on his Twitter page that the Air Force used a domestically-manufactured Qasef-2K combat drone in the operation.

"Abha Airport is one of the airports that used for military activities against Yemen," Sare'e added.  

The spokesman renewed the calling to the civilians to be away of military sites in the kingdom.
 
The development came only a few hours after the Yemeni Air Defenses shot down a Chinese-made spy drone run by the Saudi Air Force in Hajjah Governorate.

"The air defenses shot down a CH-4 spy drone operated by the Saudi Air Force,” Sare’e said in a brief statement.

The Armed Forces spokesman indicated that the operation of shooting down the drone was carried out with an undisclosed surface-to-air missile over Haradh District, Hajjah Governorate.

Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies, backed by the United States and European powers, launched the war on Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of former Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi back to power.

The war has left hundreds of thousands of Yemenis dead and displaced millions more. It has also destroyed Yemen’s infrastructure and spread famine and infectious diseases there.

Despite heavily-armed Saudi Arabia’s incessant bombardment of the impoverished country, the Yemeni armed forces have gradually grown stronger, leaving Riyadh and its allies, most notably the UAE, bogged down in the country.
