Tunisia got the highest score among the Arab countries, but it is classified as a country that enjoys partially freedom. It was followed by Syria, Libya, Sudan, Egypt, the West Bank, Iraq, Algeria and Jordan, while Morocco and Lebanon were classified as partially free countries.
Three European countries got the full mark in the rankings: Norway, Finland and Sweden. The organization said it assesses people's access to political rights and civil freedoms in 210 countries and territories through its annual Freedom in the World report.
It also noted that individual freedoms, which range from the right to vote to freedom of expression and equality before the law, can be affected by governmental or non-state actors.
