News - Middle East: Saudi Arabia’s state broadcaster has lampooned US President Joe Biden in a rare move amid rising tensions between the kingdom and Washington.

In a comedy sketch broadcast by MBC, a media network owned by the Saudi regime, Biden is shown as an aged man unaware of his surroundings, ushered by his deputy, Kamala Harris.

In the clip, the character playing the role of Biden is seen falling asleep mid-sentence.

Mocking his mental and physical health, the clip shows the character playing Biden unaware of the topic he is supposed to talk about at a news conference, while the person in the background, who plays the role of Harris, whispering in his ears to correct his mistakes.

Biden has earned a dubious reputation globally for his occasional off-the-cuff remarks, verbal gaffes, and Freudian slips, which often land him into troubled waters.

The skit comes as relations between the US and Saudi Arabia have hit a new low under the Biden administration, with Riyadh continuing to rebuff Biden’s demands to increase its oil exports to contain soaring oil prices amid Russia’s military operation in Ukraine.

Their relations have soured over the Biden administration's dwindling support for the Saudi-led war on Yemen and Washington’s bid to rejoin the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

Biden administration had also published an assessment by US intelligence agencies that concluded Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman’s direct involvement in the murder of dissident Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in 2018.

The Biden administration, however, has stopped short of penalizing the de-facto ruler in Riyadh.
