Casualties in Explosions of US-Saudi Aggression's Remnants in Sa’adah, Al-Jawf

News - Yemen: Five citizens, including children, were killed and injured on Saturday in explosions of bombs left over from the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression in Sa’adah and Al-Jawf.

The Executive Center for Mine Action stated that a child was killed by the explosion of a cluster bomb left over from the aggression in Al-Zaher district, Sa’adah Governorate.

The Center also reported the death of a citizen and the injury of two others, including a child, as a result of the explosion of a landmine left behind by the coalition of aggression in Al-Yatama district, Al-Jawf Governorate.

The Center explained that Sa’adah and Al-Jawf are among the governorates most contaminated with cluster bombs and remnants of the aggression.

The Executive Center demanded to put pressure on the coalition of aggression quickly to allow the entry of mine detectors, pointing out that the Center has been asking the UNDP to provide these devices for more than three years to no avail.

Saudi Arabia, backed by the United States and regional allies, launched the war on Yemen in March 2015, with the claim of bringing the government of former Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi back to power.

The US-Saudi aggression continues to target neighborhoods and populated areas and destroy the infrastructure of the country, in light of a suspicious international silence.

The Executive Center records on a daily basis the casualties, due to the large contamination of cluster bombs, and the failure to provide the requirements for marking areas contaminated with cluster bombs, and the remnants of war.

The war has left hundreds of thousands of Yemenis dead, and displaced millions more. It has also destroyed Yemen’s infrastructure and spread famine and infectious diseases there.

The victims of cluster bombs have reached more than 25,000 civilians since the beginning of the US-Saudi aggression on Yemen in 2015. Moreover, the support and resources allocated to field clearance do not reach the level of 2% of what is required to be cleaned.
