‘Al-Quds Is in the Heart of Sana’a’: Hamas Leader

News - Yemen: The head of the Hamas political bureau confirmed, Friday, that the participation of the huge mass of Yemeni people in the International Quds Day rally confirms that Al-Quds is in the heart of Sana’a, stressing that the resistance is the shortest way to liberate Palestine.

Hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets for the Quds Day rally in the capital Sana’a to show solidarity with the Palestinians Under the slogan "Al-Quds is the hub", condemning Israeli atrocities against them.

During the rally in the capital, Sana’a, Ismail Haniyeh delivered a speech via video, saluting Yemeni people. "From Jenin al-Qassam and the glorified Gaza, I salute you, and we express our appreciation to these masses who renew their pledge of allegiance and covenant to Quds, Palestine and the martyrs."

The head of the Hamas political bureau indicated that the anniversary of the International Quds Day comes in light of accelerating events in Palestine, Quds and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, pointing out that the recent events confirm the nature of the Zionist project based on the occupation of the land, striking the identity of its people.

He stressed that the recent events carry the spirit of violence, defiance and the spirit of resistance in the vicinity of Quds, which is an extension of the Battle of the Sword of Quds.

Haniyeh said: The Palestinian people decided and chose the resistance, as it is the shortest way to liberate Palestine adding that Quds is a red line and the conflict may turn into a regional conflict.

Earlier, the Leader of the Revolution Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi had called, Thursday evening, on Yemeni people to participate in the Quds Day.

"Coming out en masse in the Quds Day rallies will express Yemenis faithful identity and will be an extension of the position of the supporters of the Messenger of Allah."

Every year on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, worldwide rallies are held to commemorate the Palestinian people’s resistance against Israel and their struggle to liberate their territories, which have been occupied by Israel for decades.

The annual event is seen as an opportunity for freedom-seeking people across the world, regardless of faith, to voice their support for the Palestinian cause and vent their anger against the apartheid regime in Tel Aviv, which has occupied Palestinian territories since 1967.

The International Quds Day is among the legacies of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who is revered as a spiritual leader by Muslims across the world. Back in 1979, shortly after leading an Islamic Revolution which toppled the US-backed Shah of Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini named the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan the Quds Day.
