Al-Mashat Affirms Keenness to Open Roads to Ease Suffering of Citizens

News - Yemen: President Mahdi Al-Mashat stressed the keenness to open roads to alleviate the suffering of citizens in Taiz and the other governorates, which was caused by the US-Saudi aggression.

Mashat's remarks came during his meeting on Sunday with the Minister of Local Administration Ali Al-Qaisi. They discussed the situation in various governorates, the level of service and development performance, and the efforts of local authorities to improve services provided to citizens.

"We affirm that we will be with everything that alleviates the suffering of the people of Taiz Governorate, and other governorates, and if intransigence of US-Saudi aggression continues, we will announce an unilateral initiative," President Mashat said.

Recently, the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Yemen has submitted a proposal to gradually open roads, ensuring an implementation mechanism and guarantees for the safety of civilian travelers.

He called on the two parties to "conclude their internal deliberations urgently and achieve positive results for the Yemeni people."

Grundberg stressed that "the importance of lifting restrictions on the freedom of movement of people and goods is not limited to the positive impact of alleviating the suffering of Yemenis and reviving their economy, but will also help enhance confidence in the political process."

Negotiations of opening roads in Jordan are without outcomes after a 2-day discussion. The National Committee says that the talks do not go beyond limited roads in Taiz. The aggression party does not have a decision to talk about the rest of the roads and closed outlets, which is a short conception of comprehensive solutions that include closed outlets in more than one governorate, including Al-Dhalae and Marib.

Last week, President Mahdi Al-Mashat affirmed that if the military negotiating committee in Jordan does not see new signs regarding closed roads to alleviate suffering of Yemeni people, the committee will announce a unilateral initiative.

He added that the US-Saudi aggression is sparing no effort to exploit the suffering of the citizens in Taiz governorate, explaining that there is a varying agenda of the Saudi-backed government that uses the suffering and difficult conditions in Taiz and the various governorates.
