News - Yemen: A report issued by ReliefWeb revealed that the concerns of the 16.2 million food insecure people in Yemen have long been at an all-time high. 

The report explained that the crisis in Yemen is one of the most serious, caused by protracted conflict, drought, and floods exacerbated by the climate crisis, COVID-19, and other diseases.

"I am deeply saddened by the devastating level of hunger and acute malnutrition for children, children and women in Yemen,” He said. “When I looked into the eyes of these suffering mothers and children, I was at a loss for words, an obvious and unnecessary mistake for the suffering of innocent civilians” The Regional Director of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for the Middle East and North Africa, Dr. Hossam El Sharkawy said.

There are already huge gaps in funding for the humanitarian response for the 20.7 million people in need of assistance in Yemen, including clean water and health care as well as food and nutrition. Now, as the conflict in Ukraine has driven up food, fertilizer and fuel prices, the situation is likely to get worse. Meanwhile, the rapidly increasing needs of people around the world will also cause human resources to be deployed less.

It is estimated that 23.4 million people will need humanitarian assistance in 2022, 12.9 million of them are in dire need,19 million people are food insecure,17.8 million people lack access to safe water and adequate sanitation, including 12.6 million people in acute need.

It also estimated 21.9 million people lack access to basic health care, 4.3 million people have fled their homes since the start of the conflict, including approximately 3.3 million people who remain displaced and 1 million returnees.
