News - Yemen: The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, offered his sincere condolences and sympathy on the death of the scholar Abdulsalam al-Wajeeh, Secretary-General of the Yemen Scholars Association.

In his televised speech on the latest political developments, on Wednesday, Sayyed Nasrallah expressed his feelings of sympathy and condolences to Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi and the Yemeni people on the death of scholar Abdulsalam al-Wajih.

He noted that the late spent his life in the service of Islam and defending the cause of his people and the issues of the nation, foremost of which are Palestine and Al-Quds.

His health condition was exacerbated by the sinful siege and the refusal of the coalition of aggression and the United Nations to allow him to leave for treatment abroad.

Saudi Arabia launched the devastating war on Yemen in March 2015 in collaboration with its regional allies and with arms and logistics support from the US and other Western states.

The objective was to reinstall the Riyadh-friendly regime of Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and crush Ansarullah, which has been running state affairs in the absence of a functional government in Yemen.

While the Saudi-led coalition has failed to meet its objectives, the war has killed hundreds of thousands of Yemenis and spawned what the UN calls the world’s “worst humanitarian crisis.”

The kingdom has also maintained a blockade on the war-torn country, where the population is in dire need of basic supplies such as food and medicine. Riyadh imposed the blockade in 2015, the same year that it launched the war on its southern neighbor.

In recent months, the war coalition has continued to obestract flights from and to Sana’a Airport and cease Yemeni fuel tankers despite a UN-brokered ceasefire intended to end the war and blockade.
