Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Yemen's Children Suffer as Result of Aggression, Siege

News - Yemen: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed the international community, including the Security Council, Human Rights Council, Secretary-General of UN, of the statement issued by Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood on the occasion of International Children's Day.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Yemeni children are being killed, displaced and sick as a result of the aggression and siege imposed for the eighth year.

It pointed out that the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression used all internationally prohibited weapons, while the international community did not move a finger, although the UN considered what happened in Yemen the worst humanitarian disaster in modern history.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the US-Saudi aggression targeting more than 51% of health facilities led to dire consequences for society in general, children and their mothers in particular. It is regrettable that the UN not only turned a blind eye to what happened to the children of Yemen, but also removed the coalition from the list of shame for violators of children's rights.

It called for condemning the crimes committed against the children of Yemen, pressing for an end to it, and bringing the perpetrators to justice so that they receive their punishment.

Recently, The Ministry of Human Rights held a press conference to respond to the report of the Secretary-General of the UN on the situation of Yemeni children.

"We are shocked by what was stated in the report of the Secretary-General of UN on violations against Yemeni children, noting that the report contained significant and clear inaccuracies" The Acting Minister of Human Rights, Ali Al-Dailami, said.

Al-Dailami pointed out that the report of the Secretary-General deliberately ignored many of the aggressor parties, in addition to the fact that the monitoring and reporting mechanisms adopted by the report are unknown and not based on the evidence referred to.

He explained that the Secretary-General's report spoke of multiple parties and ignored the crimes of the US-Saudi aggression, which are the main cause of the tragedies of Yemen's children.

"The UN only interacts with countries that have money and dollars, and here lies the problem, adding that we are talking about more than 8,000 children who were not mentioned in the report" The Minister of Human Rights said.

Recently, Entesaf Organization for Women and Child Rights held the US-Saudi aggression and all humanitarian organizations, especially the United Nations, fully responsible for the systematic targeting of Yemen in general and children in particula, revealing in numbers the catastrophic conditions suffered by millions of children.

During a press conference in the capital, Sana’a, the organization issued a human rights report documenting the tragic situation of Yemeni children as a result of the siege, aggression and their effects, explaining that the number of children victims of the bombing of the US-Saudi aggression has approached 8,000 martyrs and wounded.

The human rights report of the organization revealed that the number of children victims of the US-Saudi aggression from the beginning of the aggression until the end of November 2021 amounted to more than 3,825 martyrs and 4157 wounded.

It indicated that the number of children with various disabilities caused by the aggression reached 5,559 cases. While the cases of tumors among children recorded 71 thousand since the beginning of the aggression, to which are added 9 thousand cases annually.

The report indicated that more than three million children suffer from malnutrition, while more than 300 children die every day. There are more than 3,000 children suffering from congenital anomalies, while more than 3,000 children need open-heart surgery outside Yemen.

The human rights report indicated that the closure of Sana'a International Airport prevented more than 30,000 children with various chronic diseases from traveling for treatment abroad.

Regarding the tragic situation of children in the educational stages, the report of Entesaf Organization revealed that there are two million Yemeni children out of school, while half a million others have left schools completely since the start of the aggression.

It held the coalition of aggression and all humanitarian organizations, especially the United Nations, fully responsible for the systematic targeting of Yemen in general and children in particular.

The human rights organization called for quickly stopping the aggression, lifting the siege, and opening airports to Yemeni patients, especially children.

Saudi Arabia and its allies launched its war against Yemen in March 2015 in order to restore power in Yemen to Riyadh's favorite officials.

The military campaign has stopped short of the goal, while killing tens of thousands of Yemenis and turning the entire country into the scene of the world's worst humanitarian crisis.

The Yemeni defense forces have, however, vowed not to lay down their arms until liberation of the entire country.
