Mass Rally in Sa’adah to Condemn Desecration of Holy Qur’an in Sweden

News - Yemen: A mass rally took place in the city of Sa’adah, northwest of Yemen, on Monday to denounce the burning of a copy of the Holy Qur’an by the tools of the Zionist Jewish lobby in Sweden’s capital of Stockholm.

The demonstrators expressed their anger at the anti-Islam move by a notorious extremist politician to desecrate a copy of the Holy Qur’an. They deplored the silence of some Arab and Islamic regimes toward this crime.

The governor of Sa’adah Mohammad Jaber Awad gave a speech in which he deplored the burning of a copy of the Holy Qur’an under the protection of the Swedish police. He pointed out that this comes as part of a series of acts hostile to Islam and the sanctities of Muslims.

He held the government of Sweden fully responsible for the results of this heinous criminal act, calling on Muslims and free people in the world to march in anger against this criminal act, and for its strong response to insulting the Holy Qur’an. He called for an investigation into this crime, considering that burning a copy of the Qur’an is an insult and shamelessness, and comes within a series of Western measures hostile to Islam.

During the rally, words and poems were delivered denouncing the repeated abuses of the Holy Qur’an and prophets by the West. They referred to the Zionist role and Jewish lobbies in spreading hatred against Muslims and their sanctities.

The rally statement called on the peoples of the world to boycott American and Israeli goods, and for Muslims to have a firm stand in front of this crime that provoked the feelings of Muslims.

It pointed out that the US brought evil to the world through the influence of the Jewish lobby, recalling America's crimes in the world.

“How can countries that claim freedom allow public burning of Allah's holy book under the protection of the police,” the statement wondered.

According to reports, Swedish right-wing leader Rasmus Paludan received permission from his country's government to burn the Holy Qur’an in front of the Turkish embassy in Stockholm. He was protected by the police while committing the act.

Back in April, Paludan tried to burn a copy of the Qur’an in a heavily-populated Muslim area.

Paludan, accompanied by police, went to an open public space in the southern Swedish city of Linkoping and reportedly placed the Muslim holy book down and tried to set it on fire while ignoring protests from onlookers.

Sweden's foreign minister Tobias Billström condemned hatred towards Muslims, but emphasized there were certain freedoms in his country.

"Islamophobic provocations are appalling," he tweeted. "Sweden has a far-reaching freedom of expression, but it does not imply that the Swedish Government, or myself, supports the opinions expressed."
