News - Middle East: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has once again dismissed Western allegations that Iran has delivered drones to Russia to be used against Ukraine, saying the West must stop its pointless blame game against Tehran.

In a post on his Twitter account on Sunday, Amir-Abdollahian rejected the “incorrect” claims that Iranian drones have been used against Ukraine in the ongoing war between Moscow and Kiev.

He said the second meeting between the “political and military delegations” from Iran and Ukraine was supposed to be held to discuss the accusations of Iran’s arms delivery to Russia “but some Western parties only make claims and do not present any document” to prove them.

“The West must stop such a futile game. Iran favors peace and opposes war,” the top Iranian diplomat added.

Both Iran and Russia have repeatedly denied claims that Tehran has provided Moscow with drones to be used in the war in Ukraine.

The anti-Iran claims first emerged in July, when US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan alleged that Washington had received “information” indicating that the Islamic Republic was preparing to provide Russia with “up to several hundred drones, including weapons-capable UAVs on an expedited timeline” for use in the war.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kana’ani said on Friday that the defense cooperation between Tehran and Moscow dates back to years before the start of the war in Ukraine, and that their defense ties are not against any third party.
