Ministry of Transport Denies Allegations Says ‘Yemenia’ Balances Are Frozen

News - Yemen: An official source at the Ministry of Transport denied what was stated regarding the Ministry of Transport's freezing of the balances of ‘Yemenia’ Airlines.

The source confirmed, in a statement to Saba, that Yemenia's balances are not frozen, and all operating expenses, including salaries, incentives, and entitlements, are paid to all employees of the company on a regular basis.

He pointed out that additional control measures have been taken under the supervision of those in charge of the company in Sana'a in order to preserve the company's funds and not transfer liquidity without controls, stressing the ministry's keenness to continue the company's activities in a way that serves all the Yemeni people.

He confirmed that the recent measures taken by the company's leadership in Aden to restrict sales in Sana'a is an arbitrary measure that contributes to increasing the suffering of Yemeni travelers in general and the northern regions in particular, and placing additional restrictions and obstacles in front of the Yemeni people.

Calling on the company's leadership in Aden to reverse its arbitrary decision and lift all restrictions on the Yemeni people, the source stressed that the ministry will take all legal measures to preserve the rights of travelers, holding the company's leadership in Aden responsible for all the consequences resulting from its irresponsible decisions.

The source also held the US-Saudi aggression coalition responsible for continuing to obstruct the opening of Sana'a International Airport, calling on the United Nations to break its silence regarding the aggression coalition's continued closure of Sana'a airport and its disregard for the suffering of the Yemeni people.

The US-Saudi Aggression tightened the siege on Yemen's travelers through Sana'a airport to the only destination to which they are allowed to go, which is Jordan, at a time when the Yemenis were waiting to allow flights to other destinations.

Recently, the travel sector of the Yemen's Tourism Federation denounced the prevention of local travel agencies from issuing “Yemeni” tickets for the (Sana’a-Amman) line, while the issuance was opened to agencies outside Yemen.

"The ban is due to disputes between political parties, and those affected primarily are patients in the northern part of Yemen who need to travel from Sana'a, along with travel agencies," the travel sector said in a statement.

The statement called on Yemen’s Airways not to be involved in political disputes and foreign control.

“The Yemen's Airways leadership in Aden has suspended sales of travel tickets to (Sana’a_Amman) through its offices and travel agents in Yemen,” said the Undersecretary of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, Raed Jabal.

He stressed that taking this decision would increase the siege and suffering of Yemen's citizens, hinder their travel abroad, and exacerbate the suffering of the people of Yemen.
