President Al-Mashat said, according to the Yemen's official News Agency (Saba), "We followed with great concern and pain the blatant attacks of the Zionist enemy forces on the Palestinian people and their desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the brutal assault on worshipers."
He stressed that Yemen's support for the Palestinian people and standing with all the free people of the nation is a principled, humanitarian, political and religious position that cannot be changed. He added, "We in Yemen, despite the current circumstances, look forward to having an active and practical role for the liberation of Palestine."
He added, "We in Yemen proudly look at the heroic resistance of the Palestinian youth to the Israeli enemy, presenting a witness to the steadfastness and will of the Palestinian people and the free people of the nation." He stressed the importance of the unity of the Palestinian position in the face of the attacks.
President Al-Mashat called on the Arab and Islamic countries to consolidate the state of hostility and discontent with the enemies of the nation, Zionist and the Americans, in their media and in the school curricula.
He urged the peoples of the Arab and Islamic nations to boycott American and Israeli goods and support the Palestinian resistance to restore its rights and liberate every inch of Palestine from Zionists.
President Al-Mashat also called on the countries that were involved in treason and normalization with the Zionist enemy, previously and later, to review their accounts and to take the initiative to break off all relations with the Israeli enemy.
Tension rose in the Occupied West Bank on Wednesday after Israeli police detained around 350 worshipers from inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex.
A group of Palestinians barricaded themselves inside the Al-Qibli Prayer Hall in the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex after Jewish settlers called for a raid on the mosque. They attempted to prevent police from entering by closing its doors.
Surrounding the Al-Qibli Prayer Hall, Israeli police went up to the roof of the Mosque, smashed some of the windows and initially intervened with sound bombs against the worshipers inside. Some of the people in the Mosque tried to resist the police by throwing fireworks.
For Muslims, Al-Aqsa represents Islam's third-holiest site. Jews call the area the Temple Mount, saying it was the site of two Jewish temples in ancient times.
Israel occupied East Jerusalem, where Al-Aqsa is located, during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. It annexed the entire city in 1980 in a move never recognised by the international community.
