48 Liberated Prisoners Arrived at Sana’a Airport

News - Yemen: A plane carrying prisoners of Yemen’s Armed Forces arrived from Marib Sunday morning, within the third day of the exchange operations that are taking place under the auspices of the United Nations and the Red Cross.

The head of the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs Abdulqadir Al-Murtadha told the Al-Masirah network correspondent that the plane that arrived at Sana'a airport was carrying 48 released prisoners from the Armed Forces.

An official and popular reception was held for the liberated prisoners, presented by the leaders of the state, including members of the Supreme Political Council and civil and military leaders.

Hundreds of families, relatives and friends of the prisoners and abductees are present at Sana'a Airport to receive the prisoners.

It is expected that two planes will arrive today carrying prisoners, abductees and detainees, whom the Islah party militias have arrested from the roads and from their homes in their villages and regions.

The third phase of the prisoner exchange process began, on Sunday morning, between Sana’a and Marib, will include 105 prisoners and abductees in the prisons of the Islah Party militia.

On Friday, a total of 72 prisoners were sent from Sana’a airport to Aden airport on board two flights, and 250 of the Armed Forces captives on two flights from Aden to Sana’a.

High-profile figures, including Nasser Mansour Hadi, brother of former Yemeni president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi, and Mahmoud al-Subeihi, former defense minister in the deposed government, were among those being freed.

On Saturday, the second day of the exchange process, five planes arrived, successively, coming from Saudi Arabia and occupied Mocha, carrying 350 prisoners of the Yemeni armed forces, including 250 prisoners who were in Saudi prisons, and in return, Sana’a released 15 Saudi prisoners and Sudanese.

The prisoner exchange process is part of an exchange deal signed in Switzerland on March 20, which included 706 prisoners and detainees in the prisons of the US-Saudi aggression and its mercenaries.
