Abdulsalam Congratulated Completion of Ramadan Deal for Exchange of Prisoners

News - Yemen: The head of national delegation, Mohammed Abdulsalam, congratulated the prisoners for the completion of the Ramadan deal for exchange of prisoners.

"We congratulate our liberated prisoners on the completion of the first deal in exchange for handing over Saudi, Sudanese and other prisoners," he said.

He thanked the National Committee for Prisoners' Affairs for its efforts, and also thanked the Red Cross and UN for the facilities it provided.

The head of national delegation expressed his hope that the rest of this important humanitarian issue will be completed.

Earlier, it was concluded the implementation of the Ramadan deal for the exchange of prisoners, during which 706 of our prisoners were received, in exchange for the release of 181 prisoners from the other side, including Saudis, Sudanese and others.

The head of National Committee for Prisoners Affairs, Abdulqadir Al-Murtadha, revealed that a future prisoner exchange deal will be concluded for 700 of our prisoners in exchange for 700 from the other side.

He reassured the families of the prisoners that we still have many papers to put pressure on the US-Saudi aggression and its mercenaries to release the rest of the prisoners.

On March 20, Al-Murtadha announced that an agreement had been reached to swap 706 of Yemeni prisoners in prisons of the US-Saudi aggression, in exchange for 181 prisoners of the aggression, including Saudis and Sudanese.

The implementation of the deal was scheduled to start on the 19th of Ramadan, and it was delayed until the 23rd of Ramadan, due to the claim of the Saudi-backed parties in Marib that it was not ready.

On Saturday, Al-Murtadha confirmed that the ICRC had informed the committee of postponing the implementation of the exchange deal due to the lack of readiness of the Saudi-backed parties in Marib.

He explained in a tweet that "what is happening is a clear obstruction of the agreement and a renunciation of commitment, calling on the United Nations to pressure the parties to the aggression to stop these irresponsible and inhumane practices."
