Shura Council Appeals to Brotherly, Friendly Countries to Evacuate Yemeni Students from Sudan

News - Yemen: Yemen's Shura Council appealed to brotherly and friendly countries and humanitarian organizations to carry out their humanitarian and moral duty to evacuate students and members of the Yemeni community from Sudan to safe places far from conflict areas.

In a statement, the Council called on the Association of Senates, Shura Councils and similar councils in Africa and the Arab world to advocate for Sana'a's appeal and the urgent call to provide aid to Yemeni students in Khartoum and look at their suffering from humanitarian aspects, like other nationalities that are being evacuated.

The statement denounced the shameful position of the pro-aggression government and its embassy in Khartoum towards the suffering of the Yemeni students and their families who are stranded due to the war and the lack of serious action to evacuate them.

The Council considered the embassy's renunciation of its duty and its inhumane behavior towards the Yemeni community in Sudan, a disgrace to the pro-aggression government, which stands by their suffering as a spectator, deliberately ignoring the difficult conditions they live in as a result of the fighting in Sudan.

The statement held the aggression and the pro-aggression government responsible for the risks that Yemeni students might be exposed to as a result of not carrying out their responsibilities.

The Shura Council affirmed that the Salvation government is ready to carry out the evacuation of the Yemeni community and students in Sudan, but the siege and the closure of Sana'a International Airport by the aggression represent a major obstacle to its implementation of such urgent humanitarian relief.

On Sunday, Deputy Foreign Minister in the Sana'a government, Hussein al-Ezzi, called on all Yemeni residents to quickly leave Sudan. In a tweet, Al-Ezzi called on Sudan to help them leave safely.

He held the Sudanese government responsible for the safety of Yemeni residents, warning against any negligence towards them.

Earlier, a number of Yemeni students in Sudan have renewed their appeal to the “pro-aggression government” to evacuate them from Khartoum, in defiance of what many Arab and foreign countries have done.

The students confirmed that they have been stuck in their homes since the start of the bloody events in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, and they called for an urgent return to Yemen.

The students explained that the situation in Sudan is completely unstable, which poses a threat to their lives.

The students pointed out that the embassy did not respond to them in sheltering them in the embassy.

Lebanon, Turkey, Egypt, France, Britain, and the US have launched operations to evacuate their citizens from Sudan which has entered its second week of the conflict: with clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces burgeoning all across the country.

This comes after fighting in Sudan's capital entered a second week Saturday as crackling gunfire shattered the temporary 72-hour truce, marking the latest battles between forces of rival generals that have already left hundreds dead and thousands wounded.

On Saturday morning, bursts of gunfire resumed after the heavy explosions that had previously rocked the city in recent days had calmed down overnight.
