Under Leader's Directives, Prisoners Committee Releases Prisoner Faisal Rajab

News - Yemen: Under the directives of the Leader of the Revolution Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi, the National Committee for Prisoners Affairs released the prisoner Major General Faisal Rajab on Sunday.

“The directives of the Leader required the release of the prisoner, Major General Faisal Rajab, in honor of the delegation of the Abyan tribes and those with them from the tribes that came to Sana'a,” the head of the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs, Abdulqadir Al-Murtadha said during a press conference in the presence of the tribal delegation from Abyan, Shabwa and Al-Baidha held in the capital Sana’a on Sunday.

Al-Murtadha confirmed to the Abyan tribes that the name of Rajab was not included in the upcoming exchange deal, and that the lies that were spread were aimed at thwarting the efforts of the delegation that came to Sana’a.

He stressed that the talk about the prisoner Rajab did not take place in all the ten negotiation rounds except once, as part of a comprehensive exchange deal for all prisoners.

The head of the Prisoners' Committee expressed his hope that the United Nations would put pressure on the Saudi-backed party to expedite the implementation of the exchange deal that was agreed upon in Switzerland in the last round of negotiations.

“With the release of Rajab, we confirm our readiness for a comprehensive exchange deal,” he added.

For his part, Ali Rajab, the nephew of Major General Faisal Rajab, thanked Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi for fulfilling their request and honoring them with the release of Rajab.

He also thanked the political leadership represented by President Mahdi Al-Mashat, Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, and all the tribes of Sana’a who hosted them as a delegation of the Abyan tribes.

He expressed his regret at the state of abandonment suffered by Rajab, from those who fought and sacrificed with them.

Faisal Rajab is a prisoner with the Yemeni Armed Forces. The US-Saudi aggression and the Saudi-backed government abandoned his inclusion in the prisoner exchange list.

A tribal delegation from Abyan, including a large number of sheikhs, notables, and social dignitaries, arrived in Sana'a on Thursday amidst a wide popular reception.

On Wednesday, the head of National Delegation Mohammed Abdulsalam confirmed that Sana'a welcomes all those who come to it from all governorates.

"By convergence of everyone on one homeland and one citizenship, aggression will be defeated, Yemen will be victorious, security and stability will be achieved, and peace will prevail," Abdulsalam added.

He pointed out that Sana'a, by confronting the US-Saudi aggression, defended all Yemen, and its greatness is for its people, its steadfastness and its victory are for Yemen.
