News - Yemen: The Peaceful Sit-in Committee in Al-Mahrah Governorate renewed its affirmation and firm position by rejecting every violation of national sovereignty and the need for all foreign forces to leave the governorate and from all of Yemen.

"It is unfortunate that one of the recruits was shot dead by British forces in a clear and blatant attack in light of the silence of the Saudi-backed government," the official spokesman for the Peaceful Sit-In Committee, Ali Mubarak Mahamed, said.

He pointed out that all the news that talked about the incident of the British ship and the killing of the soldier, that it was smuggling operations and smugglers, were only estimates of some websites and media outlets that have always been accustomed to publishing such news targeting Al-Mahra governorate.

He pointed out that the leaders of the sit-in committee warned of the danger of violating national sovereignty by the foreign forces present at Al-Ghaydah International Airport, the land ports, sea ports and Yemeni territorial waters.

Recently, sources stated that the British forces arrived at the Al-Ghaydah Civil Airport, from which they, along with the American forces, took a military base on the Arabian Sea in eastern Yemen, since the beginning of 2018.

The sources confirmed that the continued influx of foreign forces into Al-Mahra comes in the context of ambitions to control the oil and gas regions far from confrontations with the Sana'a forces.

The sources indicated that foreign forces carry out many hostile tasks, in flagrant violation of Yemeni sovereignty and all international agreements.

This is a result of the struggle for influence and control between the Saudi-US-Emirati occupation in the occupied southern governorates during the second quarter of 2022 by about 90 per cent compared to the first quarter.

In news of US officials' visits to Hadhramaut, Mahra and Shabwa, including Ambassador Stephen Fagin and before him a US State Department official, Washington is promoting cooperation in confronting al-Qaeda.

The pretext raised by President Biden coincided with the escalation of turmoil in global energy markets in the wake of the Russian-Ukrainian war and Washington's tendency to search for alternatives in the world to increase oil production and overcome the fuel and gas crisis that hit the US and Europe.

In Hadramawt, as in many of the southern and eastern governorates, Saudi Arabia and the UAE share influence, under direct and indirect US auspices. It is a clear exposure of the goals of the aggression, which turned Yemen into an arena for conflict and liquidation, and created one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.
