Human Rights Ministry: Security Council's Statement Attempt to Go Back to Square One

News - Yemen: The Ministry of Human Rights expressed its surprise at the recent statement of the Security Council, and the negative role of the Council during the years of aggression against Yemen.

"It practiced the worst types of hypocrisy in its positions that justified the US-Saudi aggression committing the most deadly crimes against humanity," the ministry indicated in a statement on Sunday. "The Council was supposed to move from the first missile fired at civilians in Yemen to stop the aggression."

The statement emphasized that the Security Council has proven that it is empty of the legal decision in protecting international peace and security and is just a tool for US-British ambitions and agendas.

It explained that the Council, in principle, was not a peace caller nor a neutral mediator, but rather a igniter of the war that targeted the Yemeni People through its complicity and cooperation in all its movements, statements, and briefings of its envoys with the countries involved in aggression.

"The council's latest statement is an attempt to return to square one and ride the wave of calm, which has lost the ability to manage due to the equation of national steadfastness, which changed positions and triumphed for the Yemeni will," the Ministry of Human Rights said. "We ask the Security Council and the member states whether it is possible for council members to return to evaluate their performance, adhere to the United Nations Charter, protect international peace and security, stop igniting wars, and stop taking political and economic considerations for the interests of council members."

The Ministry called on the Council to support the security of homelands and people, especially the most vulnerable groups, civilians, children and women, to respect the sovereignty of countries and not to interfere in their affairs.

It indicated that these steps, if taken by the Council, would contribute to creating peace, and the statements and briefings below that are nothing but justifications for further interference and harm to the Yemeni People.

The ministry also affirmed that what is required are practical steps and not just words about peace, expressing hope from the GCC states that did not engage in aggression against Yemen by working out of their responsibility and international obligations towards protecting civilians, stopping the war, lifting the blockade, and opening airports and ports.

From the first day of aggression against Yemen the UN stands silent towards US-Saudi war crimes and violations with only cold statements of the UN envoy to Yemen.

The UN continues to exploit the war on Yemen by collecting donations in the name of saving the Yemeni people.

Every now and then, the body issues many reports about the extent of the bad humanitarian situation in Yemen, reporting on malnutrition among children and pregnant mothers in order to collect financial donations.

The organization did not talk about the effects of the war imposed on Yemen over the past eight years. Rather, it worked to mislead the international community by talking about a "civil conflict" away from the existence of a large international coalition wagging a war on Yemenis.

Meeting the humanitarian needs of citizens and reporting on record levels on child malnutrition and the threat of famine in Yemen, as a result of what it describes as conflict, was the most common slogan promoted by the UN to obtain funds.

Observers said that the humanitarian aid donated by donor countries to Yemen is not a solution, stressing that the best solution is to stop the war on Yemen. They also indicated that the flow of financial aid from donor countries through organizations or the pro-aggression government has not changed anything over the past years.

Many international reports confirmed that the UN spends nearly 70% of the financial grants provided as aid to the Yemeni people on its operating expenses, while a report of the United Nations experts accused the pro-aggression government of corruption and money laundering.
