News - Yemen: Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf affirmed that the leadership in Sana'a and from the position of strength, supported by the people, is extending its hand towards those leading the aggression for a just peace.

This came during his meeting, Wednesday, with the UN representative, Hans Grundberg, where they discussed developments in the peace process and the lifting of suffering of the people of Yemen.

He stated that the ongoing consultations between Sana'a and Riyadh, with the efforts of  of Oman, should be translated into practical steps in the humanitarian side.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of the Security Council sending positive messages to support the good effort towards achieving peace in Yemen.

For his part, the UN representative explained that there is a great opportunity for a comprehensive ceasefire to reach a complete peaceful political settlement.

Yesterday, president Mahdi Al-Mashat, head of the Supreme Political Council, warned that the US and UK are seeking to push for escalation, stressing that the whole world would be affected if the US-Saudi aggression backed against Yemen.

This came during his meeting with the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, and his accompanying team.

In the meeting, the latest developments related to establishing peace, stopping US-Saudi aggression and lifting the unjust siege on Yemen were discussed.

The president stressed that the US and UK are the ones who put obstacles in the way of all attempts to bring peace to Yemen.

He pointed out that whenever there is any understanding between Yemen and Saudi Arabia, the US rushes to send its envoy to the region, and all efforts fail.

"The US role in the aggression and siege on Yemen and the thwarting of peace efforts confirms that it is behind all its suffering, and that it always seeks to continue the war, fighting any efforts for peace," president Al-Mashat said.

"We are ready for peace or war, and the US-Saudi aggression chooses the path it wants, as we are in the position of legitimate defense of our country, our freedom and our independence,” he said.
