News - Yemen: US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and Congressman Ro Khanna led 39 of their colleagues in a letter to US President Biden and his Yemen policy team in support of ongoing diplomacy to end the eight-year long war in Yemen.

Tlaib said that the Yemeni People are currently facing the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.
 
"We must do everything in our power to help them," Tlaib added.
 
Tlaib urged Congress to push for a complete lifting of the blockade on Yemen, asking "the United States not to impede peace by offering more military aid, weapons and security guarantees to any country."
 
“The recent progress offers hope that peace in Yemen is possible, but obstacles remain that require engagement from this Congress and President Biden,” she indicated in a tweet and a video she posted on her documented account on Twitter.

Tlaib stressed the importance of "the participation of the United States in the peace process to make the chance of its success greater," calling on Congress to adopt a new resolution to end the hateful war on Yemen.

The US is slow-walking peace negotiations in Yemen, effectively pushing for a resumption of the war, confirming that the war really is over if the US wants.

The US appears very much not to want the war to end as it stands to obstruct any serious solutions to Yemen. With the recent Saudi negotiation with Sana’a, Washington is working to thwart any Saudi turn towards a solution, even partially, it is seeking to impose its dictates on Riyadh before any understandings, so that the political track does not deviate from the US track
 
President Mahdi Al-Mashat has warned that the US and UK are seeking to push for escalation, stressing that the whole world would be affected if the US-Saudi aggression backed against Yemen.

He stressed that the US and UK are the ones who put obstacles in the way of all attempts to bring peace to Yemen.

He pointed out that whenever there is any understanding between Yemen and Saudi Arabia, the US rushes to send its envoy to the region, and all efforts fail.

"The US role in the aggression and siege on Yemen and the thwarting of peace efforts confirms that it is behind all its suffering, and that it always seeks to continue the war, fighting any efforts for peace," president Al-Mashat said.

"We are ready for peace or war, and the US-Saudi aggression chooses the path it wants, as we are in the position of legitimate defense of our country, our freedom and our independence,” he said.
