Yemenis Still Targeted in War Crimes by US-Saudi Aggression: Report

Yemen: The Center for International Protection Responsibility, which specializes in documenting violence and war crimes, reported that despite the decrease in hostilities, the population in Yemen is still at imminent risk of war crimes and being committed against them.

The center emphasized that over the past eight years, civilians in Yemen have suffered from war crimes due to the US-Saudi airstrikes as the war has killed thousands of civilians since March 2015.

The Center stated that "the Security Council's expert group on Yemen reported that since 2015, there have been arbitrary arrests, detentions, enforced disappearances, ill-treatment and torture of detainees by Saudi-affiliated forces, as well as the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council forces."

They added that, from 2018 to 2021, violations and abuses of international law committed by the aggression, which amount to war crimes, including indiscriminate airstrikes, artillery shelling, torture, arbitrary detention, and sexual violence were monitored.

The center stated that France, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States are complicit in these violations due to the provision of military intelligence, weapons and logistical support to the coalition.

And on April 2, 2022, the warring parties began a truce under the auspices of the United Nations, which was renewed twice, but ended on October 2.

More than 1,100 civilians have been killed or injured between January 2022 and the start of the UN-sponsored truce, including 471 casualties as a result of coalition airstrikes.
