"We formed a joint committee of the Navy, Security, Coast Guard, and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Fisheries in order to follow up on the issue of nuclear waste," he said.
He added that when the ministry is informed of any violation, it will inform the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to communicate with the UN and international organizations about this violation.
The Director of Maritime Control at the Ministry of Fisheries, Mohammed Abbas Al-Faqih, explained that the waste that Saudi Arabia claims it wants to bury in Yemen belongs to major foreign companies.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Fisheries condemned, in a statement Friday, the efforts of the US-Saudi aggression led by the Saudi regime to turn Yemen into a dumping ground for its toxic waste.
It indicated that hostile foreign ships continued to dump its toxic and chemical waste on the Yemeni coasts.
The Ministry of Fisheries affirmed that efforts to turn Yemen into a dumping ground for toxic waste represent a crime against humanity, and the international community must act immediately to stop it.
Over the past two decades, the marine environment in Yemen has been exposed to many environmental threats and disasters caused by oil and fuel storage tanks, through the spillage and leakage of thousands of tons of oil and mazut into Yemeni territorial waters. This led to the pollution of large areas of beaches with oil spots and black foam, and the death of large quantities of fish and marine life.
With the continuation of the US-Saudi aggression against Yemen for eight years, the beaches and seas of Yemen are exposed to more dangerous threats, which no longer enjoy any government sovereignty.
More than once, local media reported pictures documenting the unprecedented proliferation of dangerous oil and non-oil vehicles, in the complete absence of government authorities in the occupied areas.
