News - Yemen: Yemen's Minister of Industry and Trade Mohammed Sharaf Al-Mutahhar affirmed Saturday that the decision to boycott Swedish products and goods entered into force in response to the repeated abuses of Islamic sanctities.

In a statement, Minister Al-Mutahhar explained that the Customs Authority and the General Authority for Standards are concerned with following up on the implementation of the decision after banning Swedish products.

He pointed out that the departments of trademarks and commercial agencies have completed the boycott list of Swedish goods, and the media will be provided with it in full. He indicated that the list of agencies exceeds 30 Swedish agencies and 100 trademarks.

The Minister of Trade and Industry noted that the boycott of Swedish goods and products is continuing, and alternatives are available for all goods and products.

The decisions stipulated banning all goods of Swedish origin, whether imported directly from Sweden or imported through other countries, be brought to Yemen.

It also stipulated the cancellation and delisting of agencies registered with the Ministry for goods, products and services of Swedish origin. As well as canceling and writing off the registration of branches of foreign companies that operate in the name or for the account of a Swedish foreign company.

The decisions of the Minister of Industry and Trade also stipulated the cancellation and deletion of marks registered in the names of Swedish establishments or companies, or any mark placed on goods, products and services of Swedish origin. It is prohibited to receive any requests or transactions related to any agency or trademark related to goods, products and services of Swedish origin.

Minister Al-Mutahhar affirmed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade attaches great importance to the process of boycotting the goods of countries that offend Islam and Muslims, within the framework of the necessary action to respond to the Western crime against the divine message of Islam.

The decision came in response to the directives of the Leader of the Revolution, less than a week after two men stood outside the Swedish capital of Stockholm's central mosque and burned a copy of the holy book following a go-ahead given to them by a Swedish court.

On Tuesday, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi stressed that the minimum possible response to the crime of burning the Quran is the severing of diplomatic relations and the economic boycott of Sweden.

"It would be a salutary lesson for other countries if Muslim countries severed their diplomatic relations with Sweden and started bringing it under economic sanctions," he said.
