UNSC Resolutions Pose Threats to International Peace, Security: Human Rights Minister

News - Yemen: The Minister of Human Rights ,Ali Al-Dailami, confirmed Thursday that the US Security Council resolutions turn into an implicit permit and cover for committing serious crimes against certain parties. “ They express political positions, and do not adopt an actual measure to maintain international peace and security," he added.

This came during a symposium entitled (the veto and US hegemony, catastrophic repercussions of UNSC resolutions on human rights) organized by the Ministry of Human Rights.

He pointed out that Security Council resolutions pose threats to international peace and security, both politically and in a broader way, regarding human rights.

He explained the various forms of US hegemony over the Security Council, whether by directing its decisions, thwarting them, or international practices outside their legitimacy. He considered these behaviors the main reason for the Council's inability to address international issues and establish international peace and security.

Minister Al-Dailami mentioned the role of the Security Council in covering the US-Saudi aggression against Palestine and Yemen, saying: "Whenever decisions were issued that had a kind of fairness, the United States intervened to prevent their implementation, and there is much evidence in the Palestinian case."
Regarding the aggression against Yemen, he pointed to the United Nations' retraction from including Saudi Arabia in the blacklist of child violators due to Saudi Arabia blackmailing about stopping its support for the activities of the UN, which was revealed by the former Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon.

The Minister of Human Rights emphasized that the Security Council is the one under which murderers and war criminals take refuge. “It remains silent about thousands of crimes, US-imposed sieges on the Yemeni people that deepens their suffering and crises,” he added.

For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Human Rights, Ali Tayseer, considered that the permanent members of the Security Council are still neglecting and abandoning the fulfillment of their duties stipulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the United Nations Charter, international humanitarian law, international human rights law, and all other international agreements.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Human Rights called on the media, civil society organizations, and free people to expose the crimes of aggression, exposing the actions of the arrogant states, and exposing the suspicious role of the United Nations, the international security and human rights councils.

In turn, the head of the National Committee for Demining, Ali Safra, reviewed the catastrophic effects of the cluster bombs dropped in the air raids by the US-Saudi warplanes and mines planted by the US-Saudi mercenaries, pointing to the serious threat that cluster bombs pose to the citizens.

He pointed out that it was documented on January 6, 2016, that cluster bombs were used on the neighborhoods and homes of the capital, Sana'a, pointing out that the victims of cluster bombs among civilians reached 950 people, including women and children.
