News - World: Hundreds of German protesters have taken to the streets in Nuremberg to call on the West to stop deliveries of weapons, including US-made cluster munitions, to Ukraine.

The protest, organized by anti-war activists, was held on Tuesday, with demonstrators calling Ukrainian politicians as puppets of Washington.

The protesters said that supplying Ukraine with more weapons will further escalate the conflict.

Russia began its “special military operation” in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Ever since the US and its Western allies have sent billions of dollars of weapons to Ukraine.

Russia has repeatedly warned that the continued supply of Western arms to Ukraine will only prolong the war.

Germany, along with the US, has been one of the biggest suppliers of weapons for Ukraine.

Joe Biden, the president of the United States, said earlier this month that he had made a "very difficult decision" in providing Kiev with cluster bombs.

He faced fierce criticism even from his own allies for sending lethal weapons, which are banned in many countries for their deteriorating effects and long-term risks to civilians.

Ukraine had pledged to use the banned munitions only to dislodge concentrations of enemy soldiers and not against civilians.

But Russia said on Friday that Kiev had used notorious cluster munitions on the Russian border village of Zhuravlevka.
