Medicines Still Prohibited from Entering Through Sana'a Airport Amid UN’s Silence

News - Yemen: The director of Sana'a International Airport, Khaled Al-Shayef, confirmed Sunday that the suffering of travelers is great, especially among patients, due to the reduction of flights from six to three flights per week due to the US-imposed siege.

In a statement to Almasirah, Al-Shayef said: Many patients who traveled for treatment abroad are still stuck due to the great number of passengers that is much more than the number of flights.

He explained that medicines and medical supplies are still prohibited from entering through Sana'a airport, expressing his astonishment at the UN’s silence regarding preventing the entry of medicines through Sana'a airport, despite the urgent need for them.

The director of Sana'a International Airport emphasized that allowing five destinations and operating daily flights is the minimum need to alleviate the suffering of travelers, stressing that Sana'a Airport is technically ready to receive flights exceeding 10 flights per day.

Earlier, the Minister of Transport, Abdulwahhab Al-Durra, confirmed that the worsening humanitarian situation in Yemen is caused by the illegal siege imposed on Sana'a International Airport by the US-Saudi aggression and its mercenaries in Aden.

He stressed the need to allow international airlines to operate flights through Sana'a International Airport to several international destinations in accordance with international laws and charters.

The Minister of Public Works and Roads affirmed that Sana'a International Airport provides its humanitarian services to all Yemeni people, especially patients who suffer from serious diseases that are difficult to treat in the country as a result of the aggression and siege.
