Protesters Block Streets in Aden Denouncing Power Outage, Economic Collapse
News - Yemen: Angry protesters blocked Wednesday evening the streets leading to Ma’ashiq Palace, denouncing the power outage and economic collapse.
According to local sources, hundreds of protesters headed towards Ma’ashiq Palace in the Crater area, condemning the corruption of the Saudi-backed government. It caused the deterioration of living conditions and the collapse of the electricity service.
Protesters also condemned the attack on peaceful demonstrations by the forces of the Emirati-backed Southern Transitional Council.
Protest demonstrations in Aden broke out in recent months as a continuation of the outburst of anger announced by the people of the southern governorates due to the collapse of the local currency, power outages, deterioration of services, and the collapse of state institutions.
The Saudi-backed government continues to take economic measures that directly affect the service and living conditions of the Yemeni People, especially in the southern regions, and exacerbate their disastrous suffering as a result of the US-Saudi siege and aggression.
Electricity outages have multiplied over the past two days as a result of the lack of diesel and fuel, which caused most stations to stop serving. This made the outage hours rise to eight or nine hours.
Local media in Aden reported that the head of the Saudi-backed government, Maeen Abdul Malik, deliberately continued the electricity crisis. This is by not paying for two shipments of fuel that were present in the port since last Sunday evening.
The owners of the two ships refused to enter them except after receiving a notification that the financial value had entered their account, which Maeen Abdul Malik refused to pay. Then an intervention came on Tuesday evening, and the two ships entered the port in order to pump fuel.
An official at the Electricity Corporation in Aden said that the diesel fuel will only last for two weeks, which applies to the diesel shipment, which means that the breakthrough is temporary.
