Yemen Demands Ethiopia to Receive Bodies of Residents Killed by Saudi Army

News - Yemen: The Yemeni authorities in Sanaa, demanded the Republic of Ethiopia to receive the bodies of their immigrant residents who were killed by the Saudi army, at the Yemen-Saudi border.

A member of the Supreme Political Council, Muhammad Ali Al-Houthi, wrote in a tweet on his account on the (X) site: "We call on the Republic of Ethiopia to send a plane to take the bodies of the Ethiopians who died at the hands of the Saudi border guards."

He explained that the Yemeni authorities had kept the bodies of the Ethiopians in the mortuary on orders from the judicial authorities, stressing their readiness to hand over those bodies to the Ethiopian authorities.

Human Rights Watch documented, in a report issued on Monday, that Saudi border guards opened fire on Ethiopian migrants while they were trying to cross from Yemen.

A UN-backed investigation should be established to assess abuses against migrants and whether killings amount to crimes against humanity, HRW added.

Al-Masirah network has documented dozens of crimes committed by Saudi Arabia during the truce period against dozens of Yemenis and displaced persons, as well as African migrants in the border areas north of Saada governorate.

Last November 2022, Al-Masirah channel obtained scenes of the Saudi regime targeting and liquidating African migrants at its borders.

The scenes showed dozens of bodies killed by Saudi border guards. They also showed that the Saudi border guards handcuffed dozens of Ethiopian immigrants, believed to be moments before they were killed.

African survivors of the massacre confirmed that the Saudi soldiers deliberately electrocuted a room after collecting dozens of Ethiopian immigrants in it.

They pointed out that the Saudi border guards used to shoot directly and often used mortars to eliminate gatherings of migrants, stressing that about five migrants are killed every day at the border and many are injured.
