Decision to Reduce World Food Aid to Yemen, Political, Driven by US-Saudi Aggression

News - Yemen: A number of officials commented on the decision of the World Food Program to reduce its aid to Yemen, stressing that it carries political goals in favor of the US-Saudi aggression.

The head of Human Rights 'Eye' Center, Ahmed Abu Hamra, confirmed that the World Food Program’s decision is an implementation of American policy and plans that seek to target the home front through siege.

Economic expert Rashid Al-Haddad pointed out that there is no objective justification for reducing the aid provided by the World Food Program. “If the UN’ priorities in Yemen were to improve the living situation and reduce the suffering of the Yemenis, it would have been better for it to put pressure on the aggression to pay the salaries of state employees and raise the rate of its food aid,” he said.

The editor-in-chief of the Saba news agency, Nasr Al-Din Amer, also confirmed that the officials in Sana'a do not reject any humanitarian aid, but rather accept it. He pointed out that the US is taking a series of steps, not the first step of the World Food Program, pointing out that there are steps and statements by the American envoy on the salary issue and the complexity of this issue.

Sources revealed to Al Masirah that the World Food Program had requested, a few days ago, the official authorities in Sanaa to approve its recent decision to reduce its aid in Yemen.

The sources explained that the program’s insistence on the signature of official authorities was rejected because it involved suspicious agendas, including misleading beneficiaries about who was behind the reduction in aid.

In the same regard, the Supreme Council for the Administration and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation warned of the catastrophic consequences of continuing to reduce humanitarian aid on the lives of millions of Yemeni People. It also will exacerbate the worst humanitarian suffering in the world, which the Yemeni people have been experiencing as a result of the blockade aggression for nine years.

The Council affirmed in a statement that the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Yemen is made by the aggression countries, which use the humanitarian card as a pressure card to bring the Yemeni people to their knees.
