President Al-Mashat: Sana'a's Readiness for Peace Matches Riyadh's Readiness

News - Yemen: Yemen's President Mahdi Al-Mashat confirmed that  Sana'a is ready for peace as much as Riyadh is ready. He welcomed the messages conveyed by the National Delegation from the Saudi leadership.

In his speech on the occasion of the ninth anniversary of the September 21 Revolution, President Al-Mashat described the negotiations that the National delegation held with Saudi Arabia in Riyadh as “positive.”

"We were pleased with what the delegation had conveyed to us from the Saudi leadership as it is the leader of the coalition with which we have been engaged in a bloody war since 2015,” he added.

President Al-Mashat affirmed his full commitment to achieve a just and comprehensive peace, appreciating the commendable efforts made by Oman in order to achieve this noble goal.

He called on local opponents to return to the path of righteousness, join in peace, and respect their country and people based on the sanctity of sovereignty and independence. He urged them to immediately break away from external influence and abandon any alignments against their fellow countrymen.

He welcomed the openness of the international community to Sana'a, stressing the importance of ending the hostile alignments that hinder peace in Yemen.

President Mahdi Al-Mashat furthermore expressed his aspiration for fundamental amendments in international positions that have greatly prolonged the aggression war against the Yemeni people.

In 2014, the people of Yemen led a popular uprising against the Saudi-backed unpopular regime of Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi.

As protests gripped the country, Ansarallah on September 21 took control of the capital Sana’a following a rapid advance south from their northern stronghold of Sa'ada.

The massively popular protests were against the incompetent and corrupt regime in Sana’a backed by Riyadh.

In a bid to crush the resistance and reinstall the Hadi regime, a Saudi-led coalition launched a ferocious bombing campaign on the neighboring Arab country barely six months later.

The war, which has been enjoying unstinting arms, logistical, and political support on the part of the United States, has killed tens of thousands of Yemenis and turned the entire country into the scene of the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.

Facing up to the invasion, Yemen’s Army and Popular Committees have vowed not to lay down their arms until the country’s complete liberation from the scourge of the invasion.
