News - Middle East: Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Akbar Ahmadian says the Islamic Republic supports Afghanistan's independence, stability, security and development.

Ahmadian made the remark in a meeting with a Taliban delegation headed by the acting first deputy prime minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar in Tehran on Sunday.
He said the Iranian and Afghan nations enjoy deep-rooted civilization and history, noting that Iran supported the Afghan people when their country was occupied by foreign forces.
The SNSC emphasized the importance of improving cooperation in various sectors, including trade and industry, transportation, agriculture and Iran's water right, based on the two countries' interests.
Referring to Israel's heinous crimes against Palestinians in Gaza, the Iranian security chief urged reinforced solidarity in the Muslim world to halt the regime's massacre in the occupied territories.
Ahmadian also hailed Afghanistan's support for resistance in Palestine and Gaza.
Israel ignited the war machine on October 7 after the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm by the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas against the occupying entity. Since then, the regime has killed at least 9,770 Palestinians, including 4,800 children and 2,550 women.
Israel has also cut off fuel, electricity, food and water to more than two million Palestinians living in Gaza.
