News -Yemen: Yemeni Armed Forces broadcast on Wednesday evening video footage of the successful interception of an American hostile aircraft of the MQ-9 type while it was engaged in hostile and surveillance activities in Yemeni territorial waters.

The video clip included thermal images capturing the US drone conducting hostile missions above Yemen's territorial waters and being targeted by an appropriate surface-to-air missile, resulting in its ignition and subsequent downing.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Yemeni Armed Forces had announced the downing of an advanced American drone as the aircraft was performing an operation in support of the Israeli regime.

The MQ-9 Reaper drone was brought down using a surface-to-air missile as the aircraft was flying in the airspace over Yemen's territorial waters, the Armed Forces said in a statement.

"Yemen's Armed Forces lay emphasis on their legitimate right to defend the country and confront all hostile threats," the statement read.

"These hostile maneuvers do not serve to prevent the Yemeni Armed Forces from conducting military operations against the Zionist regime and in support of the Palestinian nation," it added.

The Yemeni Army has recently conducted several military operations against Israeli targets in response to the occupying regime's October 7-present war against the Palestinian territory of the Gaza Strip, which has so far killed more than 10,500 Palestinians.

Commenting on the successful interception of the American aircraft in Yemeni territorial waters, Mohammed Abdulsalam, the Ansarullah spokesman, confirmed that this operation underscores the readiness of Yemen’s Armed Forces to counter all hostile operations violating national sovereignty. It also reaffirms the commitment of the Armed Forces to their supportive operations for Gaza until the Israeli aggression ceases.
