Downing US MQ-9 Drone in Yemeni Waters Represents Sovereignty, Full Readiness.

Yemen: In an operation that is the first of its kind, Yemen’s Air Defenses downed an advanced American MQ-9 spy drone in the "Yemeni regional waters" as part of Washington's protection for the Zionist enemy entity.

The spokesman for Ansarullah, Mohammed Abdulsalam, described the "shooting down of the hostile American drone in the regional waters" as an achievement that demonstrates the readiness of Yemen’s Armed Forces to confront any aggressive operations that violate national sovereignty. It also confirms that the Armed Forces will continue their supportive operations for Gaza until the Israeli aggression stops.

The series of shooting down MQ-9 military spy drones dates back 6 years when Yemen’s Air Defenses shot down the first drone of this type on October 1, 2017, in the skies of the capital, Sana'a. The footage of the downing of this aircraft was broadcasted, and it was a shock to the US-Saudi aggression coalition. Since then, operations targeting this type of drone have increased in Yemeni airspace.

The achievements of the Air Defense in this regard have multiplied, with a total of "48 drones belonging to the US Air Force" being shot down, in addition to 165 reconnaissance and fighter drones, as announced by the Armed Forces in March 2023.

The continuous development of Yemen’s Armed Forces has not only secured Yemeni airspace but now also extends to protecting the regional waters. This has deprived the Americans of an important card during their peak state of alert and defense of the Zionist enemy entity, following the launch of the "Operation of Al-Aqsa Storm" on October 7, which humiliated the enemy army and exposed the myth of the "invincible army."

The achievement on November 8 should not be underestimated, as it is the first of its kind in the maritime domain. Similar to how the October 1 operation was a turning point in countering the US-Saudi aggression against Yemen, this is another turning point and a new achievement in favor of Yemen and the axis of resistance against the US which is amassing in the Red Sea as part of military support for the Zionist entity.

According to Deputy Director of the Moral Guidance Department in the Yemen’s Armed Forces, Brigadier General Abdullah bin Amer, "the drone that was targeted in our regional waters was monitoring and tracking missiles and drones launched from Yemen towards the Israeli entity."

Bin Amer considered the downing of the MQ-9 as a "very important message understood by the Americans, Israelis, and Arab entities." He pointed out that "it is not just about shooting down an aircraft; it is a multi-purpose armed aircraft. The Americans still boast about its capabilities and advanced technologies, and they still monopolize its operation by preventing its access to other entities, as they are its main operators." He affirmed that "this event has consequences in terms of expected results regarding military operations, including launching and overcoming obstacles to reach targets."
On the other hand, the shooting down of the MQ-9 is not only within the framework of the "legitimate right of the Yemen’s Armed Forces to defend the country and confront all hostile threats." It also comes in the context of the ongoing confrontation between Yemen and the Zionist entity and in defense of the Palestinian people who are subjected to ethnic cleansing and brutal massacres with US-made bombs in Gaza.
Just as Yemen’s Armed Forces have confronted the US-Saudi aggression coalition for 9 years, they are determined today to continue carrying out military operations in support and solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian people against the Zionist entity.

While the United States was the first political and military supporter of the temporary entity, sending aircraft carriers, more than 51 warships, a nuclear submarine, and its missile systems to the region to protect the entity after the Al-Aqsa Storm operation, Yemen was the first to stand with the Palestinian people, launching a series of missile strikes on targets inside the enemy entity using ballistic and winged missiles and drones. Today, Yemen fearlessly confronts American weapons and shoots them down in its waters after pushing them away from its lands.

It is worth noting that the MQ-9 drone is an unmanned high-tech spy drone produced by General Atomics, an American company. It is also used as a missile launcher in combat. It is used in the air forces of the United States and the United Kingdom and has previously been used in strikes in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria.
