Abdulsalam: Yemen Won’t Cease Operations in Support of Gaza

News - Yemen: The Head of the National Delegation confirmed that those who seek to escalate the conflict must bear the consequences of their actions.

“The alliance formed by the United States which aimed at protecting Israel will militarize the sea without any justification,” Mohammed Abdulsalam said.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced early Tuesday that the US and a host of other nations are creating a new force to protect ships transiting the Red Sea. The United Kingdom, Bahrain, Canada, France, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Seychelles and Spain will join the US in the new mission, Austin said.

Responding to the threats of the alliance, Abdulsalam emphasized that Yemen will not cease its legitimate operations in support of Gaza.

He said “Just as the US allowed itself to support Israel through alliances or even without alliances, the people of the region have full legitimacy to support the Palestinian people.”

“Yemen's naval operations aim to support the Palestinian people in confronting aggression and the siege on Gaza. They are not a display of power or a challenge to anyone, Abdulsalam added.

“Yemen has taken it upon itself to stand alongside the Palestinian cause and the great injustice faced by Gaza, he confirmed.

The Yemeni army has intensified attacks on ships en route to the Israeli-occupied territories after the illegal entity refused to extend a Qatari-brokered ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and pressed ahead with its genocidal war on the besieged Palestinian territory.

In a recent development on Monday, spokesman of Yemen’s armed forces Brigadier General Yahya Saree confirmed attacks on two ships in the Red Sea earlier in the day “in solidarity with the Palestinian people in light of the aggression against Gaza.”

Yemen's Army has conducted several such attacks against Israel-bound ships in recent weeks.

The Armed Forces reiterate in every attack Yemen’s position that they will only target ships heading to Israeli ports, and all the other ships bound for other ports can freely move in waters near Yemen.

More than 19,088 people have been killed in Gaza since the regime launched its attacks on October 7, the day when the Palestinian resistance group Hamas carried out Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the Israelis.
