During an interview with Al-Jazeera on Tuesday, Abdulsalam mentioned, "The alliance announced by the US from 'Tel Aviv' will not impact our operations in the Red Sea." He clarified that this alliance's objective is to protect "Israel," not to safeguard international navigation in the Red Sea.
He elaborated, "Since our operations began in the Red Sea, French, American, and British frigates have attempted to shoot down our planes and missiles."
Abdulsalam stated, "We have informed international shipping companies that there is no need to halt navigation in the Arabian and Red Seas," commending those companies that have suspended navigation to the ports of the enemy entity.
Halting the aggression on Gaza is a humanitarian imperative, and the responsibility lies with America and Israel.
Abdulsalam highlighted that the complete cessation of navigation in the Arabian and Red Seas is an American and Western endeavor to join the alliance in protecting Israel. He emphasized, "Ships pass through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait daily without being targeted, and our operations solely focus on ships heading to the enemy entity and those associated with it."
He praised the countries overlooking the Red Sea for their stance, stating, "We hope they maintain this position, and we will continue our operations." He added, "Our stance is the least we can offer to our oppressed Palestinian brethren, and we hope that Arab and Islamic nations stand with us against Israeli arrogance."
He asserted that blame and pressure should be directed at America and Israel to halt the aggression on the Gaza Strip, affirming that cessation of aggression is a humanitarian demand supported by most world countries.
Abdulsalam disclosed ongoing communication with the United States through Oman, stressing that operations will persist until adequate aid reaches both the northern and southern parts of the Gaza Strip, ensuring this support via the Palestinian people.
He reiterated the refusal to permit any shipping company to pass through the Red Sea to the enemy entity and the besieged Gaza Strip, affirming continued maritime operations, stating, "Almost every 12 hours, there is an operation against enemy ships."
Abdulsalam shared that Yemen communicates with the Palestinian community, presenting their plight in discussions with other nations regarding pressures to cease military support for Gaza. He underscored Yemen's recognition of the moral, humanitarian, religious, and principled burdens carried and acknowledged the consequences of supporting oppressed Palestinian brethren.
Abdulsalam emphasized the precision of maritime operations, stating, "We contact shipping companies, requesting them to activate known maritime communication identifiers, respond to Yemeni calls, and address inquiries."
He confirmed that maritime operations are 95% precise, clarifying that no targeted ship linked to the enemy entity has been mistakenly identified, supported by evidence.
Abdulsalam mentioned Israeli attempts to camouflage and redirect to other ports and companies, noting efforts by Yemeni forces to uncover these strategies.
He concluded by warning that unless aid enters Gaza and aggression and siege cease, operations may intensify using all possible means.
The United States aims to include 40 countries in the announced alliance, but only nine have responded, primarily its allies, including Britain, Bahrain, Canada, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Seychelles, and Spain.
The Yemenis have declared their open support for Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation since the regime launched a devastating war on Gaza on October 7.
The relentless Israeli strikes against Gaza have killed at least 19,453 people, most of them women and children, in Gaza. Another 52,286 individuals have been wounded as well.
Reports revealed that Israeli shipping companies have already decided to reroute their vessels in fear of attacks by Yemeni forces.
The Yemeni forces have also launched missile and drone attacks on targets in the Israeli-occupied territories of Palestine after the occupying regime’s aggression on Gaza.
