Supreme Political Council: Any Effort to Hinder Yemen's Support for Palestine Will Face Strong Retaliation

News - Yemen: Yemen's Supreme Political Council convened an extraordinary session on Wednesday, chaired by President Mahdi Al-Mashat, focusing on recent developments, notably the Yemeni Armed Forces' actions against Israeli vessels in the Red Sea.

The Council reiterated that Yemen's activities in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb in solidarity with Palestinians align with international norms and laws.

It lauded the Yemeni Armed Forces across all branches, alongside the unwavering stance and mobilization of the Yemeni people.

Emphasizing the safety of shipping routes except for those linked to Israel or heading to occupied Palestine ports, the Council condemned the US establishment of a multinational force, citing it as an aggressive move favoring Israel under the guise of trade protection.

Deeming the American initiative a militarization of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden jeopardizing international navigation, the Council squarely held the United States accountable for any repercussions.

The Supreme Political Council considered the American action as a militarization of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, which harms international navigation security, and held the United States fully responsible for the consequences.

Asserting Yemen's readiness to defend itself against aggression, the Council firmly declared that any obstruction to fulfilling their religious and humanitarian duty of aiding Palestinians would be met with a resolute response.

On Monday, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin announced the formation of the coalition – including Bahrain, Canada, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Seychelles, Spain and the UK – to patrol the Red Sea in response to Yemeni strikes on ships bound for the Israeli-occupied territories, which came in retaliation for the Tel Aviv regime’s war on the Gaza Strip.

The Yemenis have declared their open support for Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation since the regime launched a devastating war on Gaza on October 7.

The relentless Israeli strikes against Gaza have killed at least 19,453 people, most of them women and children, in Gaza. Another 52,286 individuals have been wounded as well.

Reports revealed that Israeli shipping companies have already decided to reroute their vessels in fear of attacks by Yemeni forces.

The Yemeni forces have also launched missile and drone attacks on targets in the Israeli-occupied territories of Palestine after the occupying regime’s aggression on Gaza.
