According to the threat intelligence platform FalconFeedsio, a massive data breach and subsequent data leaks affected 49 Israeli companies, including the Israel Innovation Authority, Toyota Israel, the Ministry of Welfare and Social Security, IKEA Israel, cybersecurity and geo-intelligence company Max Security, and others in recent weeks.
“Contrary to popular belief, the cyber attackers did not breach all these companies individually. Instead, they targeted a single hosting company, Signature-IT, and allegedly stole data belonging to [over] 40 Israeli firms,” FalconFeedsio’s post on X reads.
Signature-IT provides e-commerce and website hosting services to customers in Israeli-occupied lands.
A group of hackers, calling itself “Cyber Toufan,” has claimed responsibly for the cyber operation against the Tel Aviv regime’s institutions and facilities.
The same group attacked several websites belonging to the Israeli regime and Hebrew-language media outlets in late November.
The hackers hacked Israel's ministry of military affairs at the time, and subsequently dumped huge troves of data on Cyber Toufan’s Telegram account. They said the data included the names of Israeli army and reserve soldiers.
In a video released on its Telegram account, a hacker displayed data he claimed was of Israeli soldiers, including their names, ranks, service numbers and places of residence.
Cyber Toufan said in a statement that it had destroyed more than 1,000 servers in attacks and breached 150 Israeli “targets”, including scores of agencies and companies.
Cyber Toufan appears to be a reference to the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm carried out by Gaza-based resistance fighters into the occupied territories in response to the occupying regime’s intensified crimes against the Palestinian people.
According to the Gaza-based health ministry, over 21,000 Palestinians have been killed in the strikes, most of them women and children, and more than 55,000 others injured.
Tel Aviv has also imposed a “complete siege” on Gaza, cutting off fuel, electricity, food, and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.
