Yemen's Shura Council Strongly Condemns Terrorist Bombings in Kerman, Iran

News - Yemen: The Shura Council strongly condemned the recent bombings in the Iranian city of Kerman, targeting visitors at the shrine of the martyr Qasem Soleimani on the anniversary of his martyrdom. These bombings resulted in the deaths and injuries of hundreds of individuals.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Shura Council expressed full solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran, its people, and the families of the martyrs affected by this treacherous and cowardly act. The Council deemed this heinous act, directed at civilians gathered near places of worship and martyrs' shrines, as a terrorist act conflicting with all religious teachings, ethics, and human norms. Additionally, it considered this an extension of the continued targeting faced by the Islamic Republic of Iran due to its stances on national issues, especially the Palestinian cause.

The statement conveyed sincere condolences and deep sympathy to the Iranian leadership, people, and the victims' families.

Iran observed a day of mourning Thursday for those killed in the terrorist blasts that ripped through a large crowd marking the fourth anniversary of the US assassination of top anti-terror commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.

The death toll was revised down to 84 from around 100, with hundreds of others wounded near Gen. Soleimani's tomb in Kerman.

Iran's emergency services chief Jafar Miadfar pointed to difficulties identifying dismembered bodies and said some victims were mistakenly counted "several times". He said 284 people were wounded and 195 are still hospitalized.

Meanwhile, Iranians prepared for mass protests after weekly prayers across the nation on Friday, when funerals will be held for the victims.

Daesh on Thursday claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack that took place at a ceremony to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the US assassination of top anti-terror commander General Qassem Soleimani.

In a statement on Wednesday, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the perpetrators of the twin terrorist attacks in Kerman will face a fitting punishment and a harsh response.
