Abdulsalam: Recent UNSC Statement Encourages Zionists to Continue Crimes Against Palestinians

News - Yemen: The head of the National Delegation, Mohammed Abdulsalam, affirmed Thursday, that the recent statement of the Security Council encourages the Zionist criminal entity to continue its crimes against the Palestinian people.

Abdulsalam explained in a post on (X) that the United Nations Security Council exposed itself with this blind bias in favor of the Zionist occupier, who is being pursued in the International Court of Justice for its brutal crimes.

He pointed out that Resolution 2722 represents a historical stigma for an international council that claims to care about protecting international peace and security, but in reality, it acts contrary to its function.

Abdulsalam stated that the Security Council is turning into a platform to pass the hegemonic and colonial projects of powerful countries such as the United States, at the expense of the security and safety of the people in the region and the world.

He said, "The abandonment of the world in protecting the Palestinian people and the international bias in favor of the Zionists have prompted the Yemeni Armed Forces to carry out operations in the Red Sea."

He added that the operations in the Red Sea aim to draw the world's attention to its responsibility to exert pressure on the Zionist entity to stop the genocide against the people of Gaza.

Abdulsalam emphasized that the United Nations Security Council, after Resolution 2722, is endorsing the law of the jungle and calling it international legitimacy, disregarding humanitarian laws. He also pointed out that the United States cannot hide behind international resolutions, as it is condemned for protecting and politically and militarily supporting Israel to continue its crimes against the Palestinians.

Abdulsalam also confirmed that Yemen continues to support and stand by Gaza by continuing its operations against Israeli ships heading to the occupied ports of Palestine. He stated that Yemen's decision stems from pure humanitarian motives to stand with the oppressed against the aggressor.

He reiterated that the world's ships are not at risk, and there is no threat to international navigation. Resolution 2722 is filled with American deception and Western lies. The United Nations Security Council should regain its fundamental role in protecting oppressed peoples.

The head of the national delegation also noted that the continued use of the Security Council as a platform for destructive American projects undermines the legality and human value of its resolutions, rendering them equally worthless.

Since the commencement of the Israeli regime's relentless military campaign against Gaza in early October, the Yemenis have openly declared their support for Palestine's struggle against the Israeli occupation. The Armed Forces have conducted recent attacks on ships with ties to Israel near Yemeni ports, including the interception and seizure of a vessel associated with the Tel Aviv regime on November 19.

The ongoing Israeli siege has inflicted heavy casualties on Palestinians in Gaza, who have been enduring the war since October 7.

Gaza's Health Ministry said nearly 23,357 people, mostly women and children, had been killed in the war that the regime started following an operation staged by the Palestinian territory's resistance movements.

On 10 January 2024, United Nations Security Council Resolution 2722 was adopted. According to the resolution, the Security Council voted for Yemen so-called immediately to cease all attacks on merchant and commercial vessels.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have conducted nine naval operations targeting 12 ships affiliated with the Zionist enemy that disregarded warning calls and messages. This series of actions marks a notable escalation in Yemen's response to the Israeli aggression.

The Yemeni operations caused complete paralysis of the enemy entity's ports, disrupting navigation and industry in southern occupied Palestine, according to Zionist media itself. Additionally, the cost of maritime shipping and insurance has doubled, and the duration has increased, leading to price hikes for the Zionists. The direct effects of the Yemeni blockade on Zionist ports in the northern Mediterranean Sea are now becoming apparent.

On the other hand, vessel tracking data showed that oil and fuel tanker traffic in the Red Sea was stable in December, according to Reuters analysis, which is contrary to claims made by the United States and Britain that international maritime navigation through the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait was affected by the Yemeni Naval Forces operations.
