Committee for Boycotting American and Israeli Goods: Popular Boycott in Place, Played Assigned Role

News - Yemen: An extensive meeting was held at the General Union of Yemeni Chambers of Commerce and Industry to discuss the decision to boycott American and Israeli goods that support the Zionist entity.

Abdul Karim Rase, Deputy Head of the Technical Affairs Sector at the Customs Authority and Chairman of the Committee for Boycotting American and Israeli Goods, formed by the Customs Authority, affirmed that the popular boycott is in place and has played its assigned role.

He pointed out that the media role has significantly impacted this aspect, urging the identification of essential goods linked to life, such as wheat, life-saving medications, and sensitive spare parts, and finding alternatives to make the boycott effective.

On the other hand, Mohannad Al-Shami, Head of the Coordination and Joint Cooperation Unit and Committee member from the Union, praised the role of the Union and the chambers of Sana'a, Sa'adah, Taiz, Hodeidah, and Ma'rib in supporting the boycott decision, considering it a religious, ethical, humanitarian, and faith-based duty above all.

Al-Shami emphasized the importance of seeking a proper discussion on how to implement the boycott decision in a way that reduces the negative impacts on the suppliers of these products.

He called on the Union of Chambers of Commerce to meet with traders owning brands covered by the boycott decision to discuss solutions and possible alternatives for those products. Also to specify the criteria through which the decision will be applied, ensuring no harm to the national capital.

In turn, Mohammad Mohammad Salah, Deputy Head of the Union and Deputy Head of the Chamber of Sana'a, confirmed that the Yemeni private sector understands its role in this critical moment when the Palestinian people are facing a brutal Zionist war involving global arrogant powers. He considers the boycott decision a practical indication of the Yemeni people's support for the struggle of their Palestinian brethren.

On his part, Taha Ahmed Al-Muhbashi, General Director of the Union, clarified that this meeting is convened to discuss the appropriate mechanism for implementing the boycott decision and how to direct this decision towards activating Yemen’s local resources and investing national capabilities in launching quality local industries capable of competing.

Meanwhile, Fadel Mansour, President of the Consumer Protection Association, emphasized the necessity of utilizing the boycott decision to support and encourage national production. This includes gradually replacing imported industries with local ones and identifying alternative sources for importing those products.

On November 4, Yemeni Industry and Trade Minister issued a set of decisions to ban commercial advertisements for products from American companies that provide support to the Zionist entity.

These decisions encompass the prohibition of billboards on streets, roads, public places, shopping centers, and other means of promoting products from American companies. This move is part of a broader effort to boycott products from such companies that endorse the Zionist entity.

The Minister stated, "The Ministry has issued a circular to advertising companies outlining the specifics of this decision, aimed at preventing the promotion of products from American companies that support the Zionist entity."

He also pointed out that the Ministry has initiated the process of removing American trademarks and commercial agencies that are associated with support for the Zionist entity. The Ministry is fully committed to implementing these boycott decisions, aligning with Yemen's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and their just struggle.
