On Monday, a US-owned ship off the coast of Yemen was reportedly struck by a missile, according to information from the UK maritime security firm Ambrey.
The targeted vessel was identified as a bulk carrier flying the Marshall Islands flag, located near Aden.
The US Central Command further confirmed that a Yemeni missile struck a US container ship in the Red Sea, with no reported casualties, according to the US military.
Spokesman of the Yemeni Armed Forces General Yahya Saree read out on Monday a statement which announces that the Yemeni navy carried out a missile attack on a US ship in Aden Gulf in response to the US-UK aggression on Yemen.
General Sarea affirmed that all American and British warships participating in the aggression against our country are considered by the Yemeni Armed Forces as hostile targets within our forces’ target bank.
“The Yemeni Armed Forces confirm that a response to American and British attacks is inevitable, and that any new aggression will not go unanswered and unpunished.”
The statement added that the Yemeni Armed Forces will continue their military operations and enforce the decision to prevent Israeli navigation in the Arabian and Red Seas until the cessation of aggression and lifting of the blockade on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
The Yemeni Armed Forces assure the continuity of trade movement in the Arabian and Red Seas to all destinations except the ports of occupied Palestine and are committed to taking all defensive and offensive measures within their right to defend and confront the American-British aggression, the statement concluded.
Over the past week, the US and the UK have been engaged in a series of aggressions targeting Yemeni positions along the Yemeni coastline.
The purpose of this is to force the re-opening of maritime transit in the Red Sea for Israeli-linked ships which have been blocked in recent months as a result of Yemeni operations.
In November, the Yemeni resistance announced its decision to target all Israeli-linked commercial and military ships transiting the Red Sea.
They vowed to continue to do so until the genocide on the people of Gaza comes to a complete halt.
